1917 DEAR WIFE ARGONNE 75 MM Trench Art Shell Casing. This shell commemorates someones wife who died at the battle of Argonne. Meuse–Argonne was the principal engagement of the American Expeditionary Force (AEF) during World War I. It was one of a series of Allied attacks known as the Hundred Days Offensive, which brought the war to an end. The artistry on this shell includes a shield with a double cross, butterfly and flowers with additional etchings and crimping. The base of the shell reads 75 DEC SN 123L 17 BX. It measures 13 5/8" Tall.
