Brachyphyllum Fossil Leaf - 66 Million to 300 Million Years Old
Brachyphyllum is a genus of fossil coniferous plant foliage, known for its short, scale-like leaves. These plants existed from the Late Carboniferous to the Late Cretaceous periods – 300 to 66 million years ago, making them a significant part of Earth’s ancient flora. Fossils of Brachyphyllum have been found worldwide, and they are often associated with conifer families like Araucariaceae and Cheirolepidiaceae. This specimen measures 3 1/2" long and was found in the Ceara Province of Brazil. The stone it is seated in measures 5 1/8" by 4 by 3/8" approximately.
