Ayutthaya Bronze Seated Buddha 6" Statue
Originating from the Ayutthaya period (1350–1767), these statues often feature serene facial expressions, finely arched eyebrows, and half-closed eyes, symbolizing introspection and compassion. The seated Buddha is typically depicted in the Bhumisparsha Mudra (earth-touching gesture), representing enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. The craftsmanship of these statues reflects influences from earlier Sukhothai and Khmer styles, while maintaining distinct features like robust body structures and intricate detailing. They were often made from gilded bronze and placed in temples as symbols of devotion and royal grandeur.
