Original 1835 James Otto Lewis Color Lithograph – Billy Shane A Shawnee Chief. Published by George Lehman and Peter S. Duval in Philadelphia between 1835 and 1836. The "Aboriginal Portfolio" by James Otto Lewis is a rare and significant collection of hand-colored lithographs, first published in 1835-1836. It features portraits of Native American leaders and notable tribal members, created during treaty ceremonies between 1825 and 1828. The lithographs, including "Billy Shane" capture intricate details of dress, face paint, and cultural artifacts, offering a vivid glimpse into the heritage of various tribes. A little age toning w/ thumbing, otherwise excellent condition. Securely seated in a thick boards protector. Corners and edges could have fault. We are not removing it to find out. There will be a few of these on our sales to come over the next year from the same collection. It measures 18.5 x 11 inches.
