Original 1835 James Otto Lewis Color Lithograph – Chippeway Squaws painted at the Treaty of Fond du Lac in 1826. Published by George Lehman and Peter S. Duval in Philadelphia between 1835 and 1836. The "Aboriginal Portfolio" by James Otto Lewis is a rare and significant collection of hand-colored lithographs, first published in 1835-1836. It features portraits of Native American leaders and notable tribal members, created during treaty ceremonies between 1825 and 1828. The lithographs, including "Chippeway Squaws" capture intricate details of dress, face paint, and cultural artifacts, offering a vivid glimpse into the heritage of various tribes. A little age toning w/ thumbing, creasing to bottom left of page with a blemish line on the left side of the page where it appears to have been stuck to another page sometime in its past. Securely seated in a thick boards protector. Corners and edges could have fault. We are not removing it to find out. There will be a few of these on our sales to come over the next year from the same collection. It measures 18.5 x 11 inches
