200 Year Old Pakistani (Mughal) Textile – Gold Embroidered Noble Woman or Deity. Textiles from the Mughal period, which includes regions of present-day Pakistan, often featured the use of gold thread. The Mughals were known for their luxurious and elaborate clothing, and gold thread was commonly used to enhance the richness and grandeur of their garments. This technique was particularly prominent in ceremonial robes and garments worn by the nobility and aristocracy. The use of gold thread, along with other precious materials like silk and brocade, was a hallmark of Mughal textiles. These fabrics were often adorned with intricate embroidery and motifs inspired by nature, animals, and geometric patterns. The craftsmanship involved in creating these textiles was highly sophisticated, reflecting the cultural and artistic achievements of the Mughal era. Very nice condition for its age. Collected by Chuck and Eileen Hoffman while teaching in Asia in the 20th Century. Needs a frame. Board measures 10 7/8" by 8 3/8" approximately.
