Elaborate Vintage Hand Crafted Straw Marquetry Cathedral or Church. This is an extremely impressive piece of work. It was constructed from thousands of pieces of thin straw. The time involved with making something like this is unimaginable and the talent to make it look so elegant is surreal. It is professionally framed on an older wood frame. Artists signature may be inside but we did not remove to look. Artistic expressions like this using small pieces of straw has a fascinating history and is practiced in various parts of the world. It is believed to have originated in Asia and later spread to Europe, particularly during the 17th century. Age unknown. The frame this piece is seated in appears to be Victorian Era. Frame measures 13" by 10 7/8" approximately.
