5" Outstanding Stone Age Neolithic Fatyanovo Culture Battle-Axe Porphyry
5" Outstanding Stone Age Neolithic Fatyanovo Culture Battle-Axe Porphyry. circa 2900 to 2050 BC. This is a very finely made old world axe (Museum Grade). Most Neolithic drilled axes from that part of the world arnt as defined as this one is. The distribution on this style is likely larger than we have researched but appears to be most prominently from Scandinavia and the forests of Russia. This one has a sticker stating it was found near the Village of Stara Sinyava, a rural settlement in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast of Ukraine. It is made of a very attractive dark green speckled granite with a few porphyry spots scattered through it which add to its attractiveness. From the Jeff Gower Collection.
