WW1 Trench Art Mortar Shell 11 5/16" Tall.
WW1 Trench Art Mortar Shell 11 5/16" Tall. The very detailed shells such as this one were created by Local Jewelers and Craftsmen to sell to soldiers as souvenirs after the war. The shells would have been picked up from a WW1 battlefield and brought back to a shop to create these works of art. You can imagine the scene of a soldier on his way to board a ship for home with several local’s set up along the pier with mementos to sell.
