1895 D Appleton Company - 16 Prints of Famous Actors, Musicians, Performers
1895 D Appleton Company – Prints from The Music of the Modern World. At one time this collection of prints were housed in a slip case. The collection consists of famous actors, opera performers, musicians and in general entertainers of the era. The boarders of the prints all have wear around the edges but have served to protect the prints which are adhered to them. Some are nicer than others and are still frame worthy if removed from their ruffled boarder thick paper backing. The famous actor/performer names are : Jean De Reske (actor), Alvary Rosa Sucher, Albert Neimann, Katherine Klafsky, Van Dyck, Madame Sofia Scalchi, Tamagno (pencil writing on top right of print), Calve and Herman Winklemann. Pictured all to show condition. Some have creases/folds to an end, tares to a couple and page edge chips as shown in photos. Interesting ephemera representing the stage dress of famous entertainers in the 19th Century.
