Published by Harper & Brothers, New York 1873. 4 Volume Set Publishers original half leather hardbacks with colorful boards and gold gilt. Internally decorative victorian inpages and decorated page ends. This set is in Very Good condition for their age. Covers have a little shelf wear on the corners. Internally pages have age toning with minor foxing. Bindings are tight with no noticed missing pages or tares. A nice set of antiquarian books. A historical account that covers the period from 1584 to 1609. This book is a sequel to Motley’s earlier work, "The Rise of the Dutch Republic, " and it delves into the events following the assassination of William the Silent, a pivotal figure in the Dutch struggle for independence from Spanish rule.
