3/4 Groove 2 7/8" Granite War Club Found in Northern Ohio Ex: John Bennett Collection. A Native American granite grooved war club was a formidable weapon used by various indigenous tribes. It typically consisted of a solid granite stone, often cylindrical or slightly tapered, with a deep groove carved around its midsection. This groove allowed for the secure attachment of a wooden handle, usually lashed tightly with rawhide or sinew. The weight and durability of the granite made these clubs devastating in close combat, capable of delivering powerful blows to opponents. Some variations featured carefully shaped stones, ensuring balance and efficiency in striking.
