It lived about 307 million years ago in the tropical estuary environment of the Mazon Creek fossil beds in Illinois. Measures 1 1/2". Both sides of the stone nodule that hold the fossil. Ex Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. "HA" stands for the Hoard Anderson collection, one of the largest private collections of Mazon Creek fossils that was donated to the museum. Hoard donated his collection in 1978. At some point since then the Museum deaccessioned much of his collection to raise money for museum projects.
