Medieval Illuminated Manuscript Chudleigh Bible Leaf - 13th Century
Produced in France, Likely 1220-1250. The text is in Latin, written in a Gothic script, and is a leaf from the Vulgate Bible. The manuscript features numerous marginal corrections and is written in two columns on vellum. Leaves from the Chudleigh Bible have appeared in various auctions and are held in several institutions and private collections. Considered historical artifacts these are often sold individually as is how this one came to us. It measures 11 1/8" by 7 1/2" approximately. Has age toning as show in photos expected for a parchment that is so old.
