Solidus of Heraclius Constantine III and Heraclonas 610-641 AD Solid Gold Coin
Solidus of Heraclius Constantine III and Heraclonas 610-641 AD Solid Gold Coin. This coin depicts emperors or kings on one side and a Gallows Cross with the caption "VICTORIA AVGU CONOB" which translates to "The Victory of Augusti. Pure gold of Constantinople" on the other side. Fine or near fine condition with the true patination that finished gold of its age is supposed to have as shown in photos. Gold content is very near pure. Weighs 5 grams. 13/16" diameter. Ex Dave Wally and Marc Schmitts Collections. This was a piece collected in the 1940s by Marc’s Grandfathers who lived in Evansville Indiana.
