Lot 378:
2 Ancient African Bura Sikka Clay Grave Markers 3 3/8" largest
Bura pottery grave markers are fascinating artifacts from the Bura culture, which thrived in present-day Niger between the 3rd and 11th centuries. These markers were often upturned pottery urns, some cylindrical and topped with figurative images. The most elaborate examples featured full-bodied equestrians, while simpler ones displayed highly abstract, independent heads.
