Ancient Mayan Polychrome Ceramic Bowl Circa 250-900 C.E. 4" Tall x 6 1/2" Wide. The bowls served both practical and ritualistic purposes, used for holding food and drink in daily life, and as offerings in death. The vessels were painted with clay slips made from plant and mineral sources, often featuring colors like red, orange, black, and cream. Elite Maya pottery like this often depict detailed scenes of nobles, priess, and ceremonial activities, serving as markers of wealth and diplomatic gifts. The bowl was broke in several places and glued back together with a number of smaller pieces missing.
