Chancay Textile Fragment.
Chancay textiles are renowned for their intricate designs and vibrant colors, originating from the Chancay culture, which flourished on the central coast of Peru between 1000 and 1470 AD. A typical Chancay textile fragment features a combination of weaving techniques and vivid imagery. Materials often include cotton and wool, with designs incorporating geometric patterns, human figures, animals, and symbols reflecting the culture’s beliefs and practices.
Colors range from natural earthy tones to richly dyed hues, showcasing the skill of Chancay weavers in color production.
