This 4 1/2 inch Stanfield Blade dates to the Late Archaic to Early Woodland transition and is crafted from light colored flint or chert typical of the Lincoln County Missouri region. The piece shows the classic thick and durable construction associated with Stanfield type multi purpose tools. Both faces display well executed percussion flaking with broad controlled thinning flakes that create a strong lenticular cross section and secondary pressure flaking along the edges refines the cutting surfaces and produces a clean symmetrical outline.

The distal end has been intentionally worked down into a narrower reinforced tip showing clear evidence of use wear consistent with drilling or perforating. This kind of repurposing is characteristic of transitional Archaic and Woodland toolkits where blades often served multiple functions over their use life. The surface coloration shows natural patination from long term burial with subtle tonal shifts along the flake scars that help confirm age and authenticity. Edge smoothing and micro rounding are visible in high contact areas further supporting genuine prehistoric use.

This artifact comes from the Koehler familys four generation farm in Lincoln County Missouri discovered by Donald Koehler his father or his grandfather. The farm has produced artifacts for decades and this specimen comes directly from that long established family collection. The workmanship material and regional context align perfectly with known Stanfield type tools from eastern Missouri.
