Hohokum Pottery Bowl - Circa A.D. 500–1150 found in Arizona
Hohokam Red on Buff pottery bowl found in Arizona. A small Hohokam bowl measuring approximately 3 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches tall. Formed from buff colored clay containing abundant sparkling mineral temper, a hallmark of Hohokam workmanship. The surface retains traces of the classic red painted decoration associated with the Hohokam red on buff tradition. A well shaped example showing age consistent wear and the distinctive glittering inclusions produced by schist or mica rich tempering materials.
