Frame of 70 arrowheads found in Barry County, Missouri. The arrowheads in this frame come from the combined lifelong collections of Leonard Bisby, born in Oklahoma in 1910, and his son Richard Don Bisby, born in 1932 in Missouri. Much of their material was recovered in Barry County, Missouri, with additional finds made during their many years of hunting and digging throughout Missouri and Arkansas, particularly along the Buffalo River region. Both men were dedicated artifact hunters for most of their lives, and this frame represents a multi generational accumulation of their fieldwork.

The frame contains approximately 70 points ranging in size from about 5/8 inch to 2 1/4 inches. It is a well balanced and visually appealing assortment that includes Scallorn bird points, a Dalton, a nicely developed sun disc, and a variety of other point types typical of the Ozarks and surrounding regions. Materials represented include local cherts commonly found in southwest Missouri and northern Arkansas, showing a range of colors and textures consistent with the area’s prehistoric toolmaking traditions.

Overall, this is an attractive and diverse frame containing multiple cultural periods and point styles, assembled over decades by two dedicated collectors. It offers an excellent cross section of regional lithic types and is a desirable display piece with strong provenance.
