Buyer's premium:

Thai Buddhist Votive Tablet, 1700s, 2 3/4 in. A molded clay Buddhist votive tablet from Thailand, depicting a standing Buddha within an arched niche. The figure shows the raised right hand in the Abhaya protection gesture, with elongated stylized fingers, vertical robe folds, and a rounded flame-style halo associated with late Ayutthaya period and early Rattanakosin period artistic traditions of the 1700s.Made of pressed and fired terracotta clay that has hardened to a stone-like density, with age-softened details typical of early Southeast Asian devotional art. The smooth but intentionally uneven back reflects traditional hand-pressed temple production. Edges show natural compression from molding, and the slightly beveled base is consistent with older Thai fired clay tablets.Origin likely Thailand. Based on material, style, and manufacturing traits, the tablet aligns with late Ayutthaya and early Rattanakosin period production, making it a strong example of early Thai religious art and Southeast Asian Buddhist antiquities.Height approx. 2 3/4 inches.A genuine and early example of Thai Buddhist devotional art, suitable for collectors of Asian antiquities, Buddha images, and historic temple-made votive tablets.
