Green glazed ceramic guardian beast with stylized facial featurescurled mane and molded rectangular plinth. The figure is hollowwith a side opening and a single mounting hole at the top. Thisindicates use as an architectural ornament likely from a templeor courtyard roofline.
The bright green glaze shows age appropriate wear with areas ofloss exposing the ceramic body. This is consistent with lateQing to early Republic period production from southern Chinesekilns. A compact and expressive example of traditional Chinesearchitectural ceramic work.
