Buyer's premium:

This 2 1/2 inch Early Archaic Hardin point is crafted from attractive mottled Burlington chert containing subtle quartz inclusions. The material shows a natural flare of color characteristic of high quality Burlington and the workmanship is exceptionally clean with no visible manufacturing flaws. Both faces exhibit well controlled percussion thinning and the blade edges show precise pressure retouch. The notches are deeply and symmetrically cut forming a strong slightly expanding stem typical of classic Hardin morphology. The base is carefully thinned and the overall symmetry and balance reflect skilled prehistoric craftsmanship.

The surface shows excellent even patination across all flake scars with no evidence of modern reworking and the uniform edge wear supports long term burial and authentic age.

This artifact comes from the Koehler familys four generation farm in Lincoln County Missouri discovered by Donald Koehler his father or his grandfather. The farm has produced artifacts for decades and this point comes directly from that long established family collection. The material workmanship and regional context align perfectly with known Hardin finds from eastern Missouri.

This artifact is an authentic Early Archaic Hardin point exhibiting all diagnostic traits of the type including deeply cut symmetrical notches a slightly expanding stem well controlled bifacial thinning and refined pressure flaked edges. The mottled Burlington chert shows proper natural patination with softened flake scars and mineralized color variation consistent with long term burial and the uniform edge wear further supports genuine prehistoric use.
