Beautifully preserved Elonichthys fish fossil from theworld famous Mazon Creek of Illinois
The specimen measures about 1 1 2 in and comes with both thepositive and negative halves of the siderite concretion
Definition is excellent with crisp body detail and a clearlyvisible heterocercal tail which is a hallmark feature of thisearly ray finned fish
The fin rays body outline and overall proportions are sharplyshown making this an above average example for the species andsize class

HA stands for the Hoard Anderson collection one of the largestprivate collections of Mazon Creek fossils donated to themuseum in 1978
