3 15/16" Slate Wing Bannerstone Found in Ohio Ex: Dean Downing, Brian Wrage Collections.
This 3 15/16-inch slate wing bannerstone is crafted from fine grained slate and displays the classic wing form associated with Archaic bannerstones. The wings are well shaped and symmetrical, and the central body is clean and balanced, reflecting strong workmanship and the proportions expected of quality Ohio examples. The surface shows excellent ancient patination, giving the slate a smooth well aged appearance. The edges remain well defined and the overall form is intact, making it a desirable example despite its age. The size, symmetry, and material all align with documented Archaic bannerstones from the Ohio region. This artifact comes from Ohio and was part of the Dean Downing Collection, a respected source for quality Midwestern material. It later entered the Brian Wrage Collection, adding another layer of solid provenance.
