Lot 180:
8" Mill Creek Spade or Splitting Wedge found in Madison County, Illinois
8" Mill Creek Spade found in Madison County, Illinois. One end of this piece is squared with crush flaking on the edges. It may have been used as a spade but also may have been used as a splitting wedge on wood given its square end. The square end is cortex suggesting it was intentionally made this way. The surface shows significant polish from its use. From the late Chuck Asher collection.
Condition: Ancient Authentic
