Lot 336:
Over 100 Arrowheads found in Maryland
This lot of Over 100 Maryland arrowheads comes from the St. Michaels area of the Eastern Shore, a region known for its wide range of knappable stone used by Native makers. Arrowheads from this part of Maryland were made from several natural lithic sources, including chert, jasper, quartz, quartzite, and occasional rhyolite trade pieces. The pieces in this group display the natural variation in color, texture, translucency, and grain that reflects the diverse stone historically used in the Chesapeake region. Each artifact shows age-consistent surface wear, mineral staining, and correct knapped fracture patterns for authentic Maryland prehistoric manufacture. Points in this lot measure 1/2" to 2 3/4". No special ones in this group. Just a solid representation of the common arrowheads found in Maryland on the east coast. Ex James Shields Collection
