Original Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865) "Actor Playing a Farmer" Japanese Woodblock Print – Edo Period. Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865), also known as Utagawa Toyokuni III, was one of the most popular, prolific, and commercially successful designers of ukiyo-e woodblock prints in 19th-century Japan. He was a student of Utagawa Toyokuni I and later became a master in his own right. Kunisada is best known for his kabuki actor portraits (yakusha-e) and beautiful women portraits (bijin-ga). Couldnt find an exact year on this one. It has a certification stamp on the back board. Has some age toning and a crease down the middle which has some seperation up the crease from the bottom as shown in photos. It measures 14 1/4" by 9 5/8" approximately.
