Lot 351:
11" 1940s McCoy Mammy Cookie Jar
This 1940s McCoy Mammy cookie jar features the classic mid-century figure form with a white dress, red headscarf, and red Cookies script painted across the front. The jar displays the correct McCoy body proportions including the rounded skirt, clasped hands, and the head and upper torso forming the removable lid. The ceramic surface shows age consistent wear with paint loss on the lettering, apron, and headscarf. The glaze displays natural mid-century crazing and use wear. The jar is heavy walled ceramic typical of McCoy production during the 1940s. The jar measures approximately 11 inches tall and comes from the late Paul Potter collection. Surface Analysis – The ceramic surface shows age consistent glaze wear and scattered paint loss. The red headscarf and red Cookies script show mid-century paint application with visible brush strokes and natural fading. The lid seam matches McCoy two piece mold construction. The glaze shows age appropriate crazing with no signs of modern restoration. The base and lower skirt show typical shelf wear from long term use. Overall condition is correct for an original 1940s McCoy Mammy cookie jar.
