6 1/2" Chimu Culture Tumi circa 1100 to 1470 AD from Northern Peru
6 1/2" Chimu Culture Tumi circa 1100 to 1470 AD from Northern Peru. Pre-Columbian Northern Coast of Peru – Chimu culture circa 1100 to 1470 AD. Hammered copper with a slightly flared handle and crescent blade at one end. This Tumi was never sharpened. Has the fabric print that is often left in the patina from being in cloth. A Tumi is a ceremonial knife that often accompanied the warrior or shaman into the afterlife. This Tumi is first stage thus in exceptional condition for its age.
