19th Century German Steel Engraving – Pestalozzi’s Farewell to the Orphans. Pestalozzi’s Farewell to the Orphans refers to Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi’s emotional departure from the orphanage he established in Stans, Switzerland. Pestalozzi was a Swiss educational reformer who dedicated his life to improving the education and welfare of children, especially orphans. His work at the orphanage in Stans was particularly significant, as he implemented his educational principles there, emphasizing the importance of learning by head, hand, and heart. A frameworthy steel engraving recovered from an old book. We couldnt identify the book or newspaper this originated from. It measures 12" by 8 1/2" Edges on the top are a bit tattered and it has the age toning expected of ephemera of its age. Frame worthy very old steel engraving.
