Early to Mid-Century Heavy Silver Bedouin Tribal Cuff from Saudi Arabia – 206 grams or 7 1/4 ounces. Excellent condition very heavy duty bracelet. Use wear and patination commensurate with age. While some silver was mined on the Arabian Peninsula, a significant portion of the silver used in jewelry came from Maria Theresa Thaler coins minted in Austria. These Thalers were widely accepted as currency in the region until the 1960s. The Maria Theresa Thaler coins were composed of 83% pure silver. Silver content varies on old Saudi Arabian jewelry but is generally made from those coins in the first half of the 1900’s. This bracelet measures 2 1/4" inner diameter and 3 1/8" outer diameter.
