Nearly identical to the 14th century bracelet located in the Metropolitan Museum of Art with exception of size which is 2 5/8" Diameter and raised decoration next to the spiked ends on the band. Acquired legally prior to 1970 by Chuck and Eileen Hoffman while teaching overseas in Africa. Resembles Manilla Currency used during the slave trade in Africa. The age and location where it originated we concluded from visual comparison of others on the web. Older bracelets like this are often confused with Manilla currency and sit in collections of the old slave currencies. Likely made by the Dogon people of Mali.
