Original 1968 Lithograph from the "One Must Know the Animals Collection" from the Rilke Portfolio of Ben Shahn. "Ben Shahn Trust" stamp generally signals that the artwork came from, or was authenticated/authorized by, the estate that manages Shahn’s legacy after his death in 1969. 950 Ben Shahn / Rainer Maria Rilke Portfolio’s were created. With the Trust stamp on the back and the edge showing it came from a portfolio this is an original from one of the folios. From the Chuck & Eileen Hoffman Collection. Ben Shahn created the Rilke Portfolio in 1968, titled "For the Sake of a Single Verse". The complete portfolio consists of 23 lithographs, accompanied by text from Rainer Maria Rilke. Some age toning along the boarders evidencing the frame it previously resided in. This lithograph measures 22 1/2" by 17 3/4"
