6 1/2"+ Pre-Columbian Unifacial Blade

Measuring over 6 1/2 inches in length, the artifact displays an elongated lanceolate form with pointed ends and well-defined margins. Gray chert composition is present throughout with translucent brown to amber coloration along thinner edge areas.

Extensive overlapping flake scars document reduction from a large flake blank. Broad percussion removals remain sharply defined and create a pronounced faceted surface. The asymmetrical profile is consistent with unifacial manufacture, and the reduction sequence remains clearly visible.

The material displays natural variation from medium gray to brown and amber tones. A well-developed gray-brown patina extends across the surface and through the flake scar pattern. Patination is present within deeper negatives as well as elevated surfaces, producing a consistent weathered appearance throughout. Translucent margins contrast with the more opaque central body and highlight the flaked contours.

Condition is excellent. The outline remains complete with sharply defined flake scars and clear edge definition. Manufacturing details remain well preserved throughout.

Well-executed flake removals and a clearly visible reduction sequence demonstrate careful workmanship. The combination of substantial size, preserved manufacturing features, and uniform patination contributes to the artifact’s strong visual presence.

Repairs or restoration are not evident.
