Lot 341:
4.25 Inch Jurassic Ammonite Fossil Specimen
4.25 Inch Jurassic Ammonite Fossil Specimen
Natural ammonite fossil specimen displaying a tightly coiled planispiral shell with pronounced radial ribbing across multiple visible whorls.
Measures approximately 4.25 inches in diameter.
The fossil exhibits strong preservation of the original shell ornamentation with well-defined ribs extending from the umbilical region to the outer whorl. Mineralization is present throughout, producing attractive cream, tan, and brown coloration with natural geological staining concentrated within the rib furrows. The shell surface displays a partially polished appearance that enhances the visibility of the fossilized structure.
Visible geological features include distinct whorl growth, deep rib separation, and preserved chambered shell architecture characteristic of ammonites. Natural mineral infiltration and fossilization have produced subtle tonal variation across the specimen.
Condition is good overall with clear shell detail and strong visual presentation. A section of the outer whorl is absent, exposing natural matrix and internal fossil structure. Minor surface wear, mineral deposits, and fossilization-related imperfections are present and consistent with age and recovery.
Examination of visible features supports identification as an authentic ammonite fossil. No repairs or restoration are evident from the visible surfaces.
Condition: Ancient Authentic
