9 1/4" Steatite Lead Inlaid Pipe Made by Donnie Lemons – 1970’s Folk art. Donnie made pipes, stone statues and a variety of other tools resembling Native American Artifacts in the second half of the 20th Century. A close friend with another well-known stone artisan Billy Gurthrie who lived in the same area, the two makers work often looked similar in many ways because of the influence they had on each other. This is a very well-made pipe with the added touches of lead inlay. Donnies work although not signed had distinctive features. Fortunately we know his son who was able to validate this as one of his works.
