6" Liao Dynasty (AD 907-1125) Chinese Bone Projectile Point
Finely crafted Chinese bone projectile point measuring approximately 6 in. in length and dating to the Liao Dynasty, AD 907-1125. Fashioned from dense large-mammal bone and worked into an elongated lanceolate form with pronounced high median ridges and a reinforced diamond-shaped cross section. The point exhibits exceptional bilateral symmetry and was manufactured by removing material from the margins toward a preserved central spine, creating a rigid and highly effective penetrating form. The squared hafting end was designed for insertion into a split shaft and secured by binding or adhesive. Surfaces display ancient wear, polishing, patination, and evidence of long-term age while preserving the original manufacturing geometry. Comparable Northern Chinese examples are documented with the same distinctive high median ridges, diamond cross sections, and overall proportions. An impressive example of Chinese bone weapon technology dating to approximately 900-1,100 years ago.
